About the Artist
Born in 1974, Ratnadeep Gopal Adivrekar is an accomplished contemporary Indian artist who earned his Bachelor of Fine Arts in Painting from Sir J.J. School of Art, Mumbai, in 1997. Adivrekar’s solo exhibitions have been showcased in prominent galleries such as Crimson – The Art Resource in Bangalore, NUS Museum in Singapore, Artists Centre and Jehangir Art Gallery in Mumbai and Kala Academy in Panaji, Goa. His work has been featured in group exhibitions at the National Gallery of Modern Art (NGMA) in Mumbai, as part of the 2005 show ‘Future and Present’, and at international venues such as Chelsea Art College in the UK. His participation in thematic exhibitions, such as ‘Ardhanareshwar’ at Tao Art Gallery, Mumbai, and the ‘Pune Art Show’ curated by Geetanjali Kirloskar and Tao Art Gallery, demonstrates the range of his artistic engagement across India. In 2003, he received the Harmony Award for Emerging Artist of the Year, an accolade presented at the Harmony Show in Mumbai. He also won the Maharashtra State Art Award in 2002 and the National Scholarship from the Lalit Kala Akademi in New Delhi in 2001. His other awards include the Governor's Prize from the Bombay Art Society in 1999 and the Best Painting Award from the Art Society of India in 1996.
