About the Artist
Debashis Kabasi was born in 1965 . Hereceived his Bachelor of Fine Arts from Government College of Art and Craft, Kolkata and his Master of Fine Arts from Vishva Bharati University, Shanti Niketan. The artist has exhibited his work widely in Kolkata, New Delhi, Bangalore, Mumbai, Ahmedabad, London, Chennai, and Hyderabad. Debashis’ work is distinct, characterised by vibrating outlines, gestural realism, and dynamic action. His art often reflects the challenges of his generation, exploring themes of identity and the desire to adapt to change. Debashis's fascination with textures leads him towards abstraction inspired by nature, but he continues to experiment with innovative techniques and creative surface treatments in his paintings. The artist lives and works in Kolkata.
