About the Artist
Maite Delteil, born in 1933 in Fumel, France, is a renowned French artist celebrated for her figurative paintings that depict nature, people, and everyday scenes. She studied art at Ecole des Beaux-Arts, Academie de la Grand Chaumiere, Academie Julian, and the Ecole Nationale Superieure des Beaux-Arts from 1953 to 1959. Delteil's talent was recognized early in her career when she received a fellowship from the French Government and Institut de France to further her studies in Spain and Greece, and she was awarded the Prix De la Casa Velasquez in 1959. Her work has been exhibited extensively across India, the US, and France, as well as other European countries. Delteil’s art is part of many prestigious public and private collections, particularly in India, France, and Japan. Her solo exhibitions include shows at Art Musings in Mumbai (2008), Fondation Taylor in Paris (2000), and various galleries across Japan. She has also participated in numerous group exhibitions, such as at Jehangir Art Gallery in Mumbai (2008) and Gallery Sanskriti in Kolkata (2007). Throughout her career, Delteil has been honored with multiple awards, including the Prix de dessin in Beauvais (1999) and the Silver Medal of French Merit and Devotion for Arts and Culture (1994). Delteil continues to live and work between New Delhi and Paris.
