Meera Devidayal, born in 1947, completed her Bachelor of Fine Arts from Sir J.J. School of Art, Mumbai (1971-1974), after earning a degree in English Literature from Loreto House, Kolkata. Over her career, she has exhibited extensively across major cities in India and internationally. Her notable solo exhibitions include "Where I Live" (2009) at Hirji Jehangir Gallery and Chemould Prescott Road, Mumbai, "Dream/Reality" (2006), and "Dream Home" (2003), both at Gallery Chemould, Mumbai. Other solo exhibitions span from New Delhi's Anant Gallery to Mumbai's Prithvi and Jehangir Art Galleries. The artist’s work has been featured globally at international venues like New York and Oman. She participated in significant art events, such as the "Triangle Artists Workshop" in New York (2002) and numerous exhibitions in cities like Kolkata, Pune, Baroda, and Goa. She received the 1998 "Miniature Format Show" award from Sans Tache in 1998 and then again in 2007 from Bombay Art Gallery. Devidayal's work is celebrated for its incorporation of popular symbols and kitsch imagery, exploring themes of social issues, feminism, and the urban experience.
