About the Artist
Pulkit Prajapati, born in 1986 in Ahmedabad, holds a Diploma in Fine Arts from Seth C. N. College of Fine Arts (2008) and a Post Diploma in Painting from the Faculty of Fine Arts at M.S. University (2010). He later joined the residency program at Kanoria Art Centre in the same year. Pulkit has been honoured with the State Lalit Kala Academy Awards for both the Graphic (2007) and Painting (2010) departments. His notable recognition includes being selected in the first round for the BP National Portrait Award at the National Portrait Gallery in London in 2019. Pulkit has participated in several prestigious art camps such as the Bikaner Art Studio (2007), Lalitkala Regional Camp in Lucknow (2013), and M.O.G. Art Camp in Goa (2018). His group exhibitions include showcases at Darbar Hall in Kochi (2013), Stenless Art Gallery in New Delhi (2014), and the Prince of Wales Museum in Mumbai (2014). He has had a solo exhibition at Jawahar Kala Kendra, Jaipur (2015) and participated in the India Art Fair in 2017, 2022, 2023, and 2024. Pulkit's artistic practice revolves around expressing nostalgia through the use of thick layers, textures, and viscous paint, inspired by the layered walls of public spaces that reveal rich histories over time.
