About Artist

Jatin Das, born in December 1941 in Mayurbhanj, Odisha, is a renowned Indian artist with over 71 solo exhibitions to his name. Trained at the Sir JJ School of Art, Mumbai, his prolific career spans painting, sculpture, printmaking, and mural art. He has participated in global biennales and designed postal stamps for India. Das is also the founder of the JD Centre of Art, dedicated to preserving diverse art forms. His large-scale works include a significant mural in the Indian Parliament. His contributions to Indian art have been recognized with numerous honors, including the prestigious Padma Bhushan in 2012, one of India's highest civilian awards. He has also received honorary Doctorates (D.Litt) from several universities, including Rabindra Bharti University, Kolkata. Das is also a member of the Poetry Society of India, illustrating his creative versatility beyond visual art.
