About the Artist
Manita completed her B.F.A (Applied Arts) from Govt. College of Art, Chandigarh, Punjab University, where she was a gold medalist. She has done many commissioned projects for various organizations like American Embassy and WHO. She exhibited her works at Ashoka Hotel, New Delhi, 2006, International Film Festival (2015) and the Sanskriti School, New Delhi (2012). She has a vast experience in teaching art to students of various levels including children with learning disabilities. Being an artist inclined to paint flora and fauna, in this work, Manita sought to expand her aesthetic experience to depict architecture using the medium of watercolors. She continues to be intrigued by the skill behind beautiful heritage buildings – built across India and the world. Great architecture can stimulate one’s emotions as we look beyond the practical purpose for its existence. The conical and dome shaped roofs involve a mix of Indian and Roman architecture, and blend seamlessly with the colour yellow – thus completing the frame she had in mind.
