About the Artist
Puja Mondal, born in 1994 in Kolkata, India, earned her Master's and Bachelor's Degrees in painting from the Faculty of Fine Arts at The Maharaja Sayajirao University of Baroda in 2019 and 2017, respectively. She was a recipient of the prestigious Elizabeth Greenshield Foundation grant in Painting in 2023 and was awarded the Nasreen Mohamedi Scholarship from her alma mater in 2017. Puja’s work is influenced by miniature painting and Jaipuri fresco techniques, reflecting themes of nostalgia, changing political climates, and cultural loss. Her practice often incorporates literary elements, bringing historical writings, poems, and speeches into her visual narratives. Notable exhibitions include ‘The Figure of Sound’ at Shridharani Gallery, New Delhi (2023), and ‘Mycelial Legacies’ curated by Deeksha Nath, New Delhi (2023). Puja is currently based in Vadodara, India.
