About the Artist
Born in 1935 in Kerala, A. Ramachandran received a Diploma in Fine Arts and Crafts as well as a Ph.D. in mural painting from Kala Bhavan, Santiniketan, in 1961. Initially he painted in the expressionist style; but by the 1980s his style had undergone a vital change. Ramachandran was the recipient of the National Award for Painting in 1969 and 1973 as well as of the Padma Bhushan in 2005. He lives and works in New Delhi.
