About the Artist
Anjolie Ela Menon was Born in West Bengal, Anjolie Ela Menon completed a degree in English Literature from Delhi University. Since her time as a student, she was drawn to the works of Modigliani, Amrita Sher-Gil and M. F. Husain. She went to the `Ecole nationale sup`rieure des Beaux-Arts in 1959 on a scholarship. She has lived and worked in India, the USA, Europe, Japan and former USSR, and has held over 30 solo shows including a recent one in Mumbai in 2015 named Divine Mothers. She is also a well-known muralist and has represented India at several exhibitions. Menon was awarded the Padma Shri in 2000. She lives and works in New Delhi.
