About the Artist
Sudhir Bhagat is an Indian contemporary artist whose career uniquely bridges the worlds of fine art, design, and advertising. Born in New Delhi, he graduated with a Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) from the Delhi College of Art in 1985, an institution that has produced many of India's leading contemporary artists. From the outset, his artistic education emphasized strong draftsmanship, composition, and experimentation with multiple media—qualities that continue to define his work today. Bhagat entered the advertising industry, where he spent over two decades as a designer, art director, and creative director. As his artistic interests evolved, Bhagat increasingly devoted himself to painting and contemporary art. While continuing to draw on his design background, he developed a distinctive visual language that combines expressive figurative painting with environmental and social commentary.Today, he works primarily in oil and acrylic on canvas, while also creating installations, sculptures, and digital artworks. Through his paintings, Bhagat invites viewers to celebrate the beauty of the natural world while recognizing its increasing fragility. His combination of expressive colour, symbolic imagery, and environmental advocacy has made him a distinctive voice in contemporary Indian art.
