About the Artist
Zahoor is an Indian painter born in 1953. A senior Indian artist from Kashmir, he has studied at the MS University of Baroda. The artist has had the good fortune of being trained under Indian masters such as K.G.Subramanian, Jeram Patel and Ghulam Mohammad Sheikh. His style is very impressionistic. To anyone who has visited Kashmir, his fields of flowers, houseboats, snow-clad landscapes, and other scenic impressions of the region all bring back the picturesque beauty of his homeland. Known for his pure pristine landscapes, he believes that colour schemes have an effect on the mind and soul of people. Zahoor paints intuitively and his preferred medium is Gouache. Zahoor Zargar has received a significant honour in recognition of his extensive career and contributions to art education. His awards and recognition include, Lifetime Achievement Award: He was honoured with a Lifetime Achievement Award for his outstanding contribution to Indian art and his lifelong dedication to creative education at the "Rang-e-Chinar" National Art Workshop in Srinagar as well as Appreciation by Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam in 2007.
