About the Artist
Gogi Saroj Pal- (1945-2024) was one of India's pioneering contemporary artists and a powerful feminist voice in modern Indian art. Born in Neoli, Uttar Pradesh, she studied at Banasthali, Lucknow College of Arts & Crafts, and the College of Art, New Delhi. Working across painting, sculpture, ceramics, printmaking, and installation, her art explored womanhood, mythology, identity, and social inequality. Through iconic series such as Kinnari, Kamdhenu, and her celebrated Nayikas, she reimagined traditional symbols to challenge patriarchal narratives and celebrate feminine strength. Her distinguished career spanned over five decades, earning her the Lalit Kala Akademi National Award and international recognition.
