About Artist
Priyanka Aelay is a contemporary Indian artist. She is known for her vibrant, magic-realist style that blends Telangana folk heritage with contemporary aesthetics, primarily using acrylic on canvas. Aelay holds a Bachelor's degree from Jawaharlal Nehru Architecture and Fine Arts University (2011), a Master of Fine Arts from Hyderabad Central University (2013), and a Ph.D. in Film studies and Visual culture from the English and Foreign Languages University (2022). She plays with space, dimensions, and perspective, allowing her landscapes to appear free-flowing and floating, rather than adhering to linear perspective. Her meticulous detailing and bold compositions result in visually rich and emotionally resonant artworks. Her art explores nature, identity, memory, and womanhood, often weaving in cultural narratives and personal experiences. She has participated in numerous national and international shows and art camps, including a prestigious cross-residency program in Bordeaux, France, by Bordeaux Metropole and Kalakriti Art Gallery.
