About the Artist
Sambit Panda, an artist born in Kalahandi, Orissa, has a notable educational background and artistic career. He holds a BA in History and Political Science from Sambalpur University (1997), a BFA from B.K. College of Arts and Crafts, Bhubaneswar (2003), and an MA in Art History from the National Museum Institute, New Delhi (2006). His artwork, characterised by muted colours and depictions of everyday life such as smoke-covered skies, insects, and animals, explores urbanisation, domesticity, and ecological imbalances. His solo exhibitions have been showcased at prestigious venues such as Anant Art Gallery, New Delhi (2006, 2009), and in Bhubaneswar (1998). He has participated in group exhibitions across major cities like Mumbai, Kolkata, Noida, and internationally in London. These include 'Beyond Boundaries' at The Gallery in Cork Street, London (2008), 'Does Size Matter?' in Mumbai (2007), and shows at Lalit Kala Akademi, Bhubaneswar (1999). Panda’s accolades include the Orissa Saraswati Shishu Mandir Shiksha Samiti Award (2003), Fakir Mohan Senapati Award (2002), and the International Women’s Day Award (2000), highlighting his recognition in both academic and artistic circles.Sambit Panda
