About the Artist

Born on February 23, 1935, in Amritsar, Punjab, Paramjit Singh pursued his Fine Arts diploma at Delhi Polytechnic, New Delhi, graduating in 1958. In 1973, he furthered his education in Printmaking at Atelier Nord in Norway. Singh’s upbringing amidst pastoral beauty profoundly influences his artistic vision. His paintings often feature thick pigment application, creating vibrant, textured representations of nature. The fluidity and lyrical rhythm in his depiction of natural forms—such as grass, leaves, and water—impart a unique musicality to his canvases. Singh began his solo career with an exhibition at Triveni Gallery, New Delhi, in 1967. Over the years, he has exhibited widely, with notable shows including 'Shall Return Again...' at the Centre for International Modern Art (CIMA), Kolkata, in 2009; 'Green Thought' at Bodhi Art, Singapore, in 2008; and exhibitions at Grosvenor Vadehra, London, and Vadehra Art Gallery, New Delhi, in 2007. His work has been featured in numerous group exhibitions such as 'Progressive to Altermodern' at Grosvenor Gallery, London, in 2009 and 'Modern and Contemporary Indian Art' at Vadehra Art Gallery, New Delhi, in 2008. He continues to live and work in New Delhi.
