About the Artist
Lalitha Lajmi: Born in 1932 in Kolkata, Lajmi is a highly acclaimed Indian painter. She is a self-taught artist and developed her art by reading books and constantly experimenting. She started painting seriously in the early sixties, and had her first solo exhibition at Jehangir Art Gallery, Mumbai n 1961. Over a career spanning five decades, she had several exhibitions at both national and international platforms. While her earlier works had a certain melancholic feel, her recent works have a more happier palette and a sense of positivity.
