About the Artist
Arunangshu Roy holds a Bachelor of Visual Arts (BVA) from The Indian College of Arts and Draftsmanship and is widely recognised for his excellence in drawing. His practice is deeply rooted in observation of the natural world — particularly animals and insects — through which he explores themes of survival, instinct, and interconnectedness. In many of his works, human beings are portrayed as ferocious, almost primal creatures navigating dark, foreboding jungles. These settings become metaphors for contemporary society, where power, vulnerability, and morality collide. Roy’s works have been showcased in numerous exhibitions and art camps, earning him collectors and patrons across the country. In 2011, he was honoured with the prestigious All-India Award for Excellence in Drawing from the Birla Academy of Art and Culture, further affirming his stature within the contemporary art landscape.
