About the Artist
A contemporary artist from Silguri, with a strong influence of Indian miniature style in his art practice. Sarkar holds an MFA in Painting from College of Art, Delhi University, New Delhi (2017) and a BFA in Painting from Kala Bhavana, Visva-Bharati University, West Bengal. He also holds a BA in History, North Bengal University, West Bengal (2011). Working primarily with watercolour and exploring the relationship between the human body and objects in an urban context, Sarkar captures the seemingly trivial moments of existence and the lives of hawkers and workers in the 21st century. He has participated in numerous exhibitions and residency programs in India and abroad including India Art Fair, New Delhi (2023), and The Glenfiddich International Artist Residency, Scotland, UK (2018) to name a few.
