About the Artist
Suhas Roy was born in West Bengal and studied at the Indian College of Arts and Draftsmanship, Kolkata and later at the Ecole nationale superieure des Beaux-Arts, Paris. The subject of his work is primarily the female face and form. Roy has exhibited widely in India, Prague, Paris, Tokyo, Belgrade and Budapest. Roy lived and worked in Santiniketan where he was the Head of the Department of painting at Kala Bhavan. He passed away in Kolkata in October 2016.
