About the Artist

Born in 1933 in Lyallpur, India, Ved Nayar relocated to New Delhi during the Partition, where he graduated from St. Stephen's College in 1952. He later earned a diploma in fine arts from the National College of Fine Art in 1957, debuting his work at the Lalit Kala Akademi's national exhibition. Initially focused on painting, Nayar expanded into sculpture, installation, photography, and digital prints over time. His early abstract works, with ritualistic undertones, evolved into elongated human forms, often women, bridging the space between earth and sky, reflecting themes of human existence and environmental relationships. Nayar received the National Award from the Lalit Kala Akademi in 1981 for his sculpture ‘Mankind-2110’ He has held numerous solo exhibitions in India, participated in international group shows, and attended various workshops and art camps globally. His works are featured in prominent public and private collections worldwide.
