About the Art Form
Born in 1967, Jamna Lal Kumhar is a traditional terracotta artist from Molela, Rajasthan. His studio, Kalpataru Terracotta Art, Research, and Training Centre, specialises in unique narrative plaques, tiles, and murals crafted from natural materials sourced from the Banas River. Over his 30-year career, Kumhar has showcased his work internationally, participating in exhibitions in India, as well as abroad in Prague and Israel. He has received several accolades, including the Rajasthan State Award and the National Award (2013-2014). His works are featured in prestigious collections, and he regularly conducts workshops to promote Molela terracotta art.
