Shakuntala Kulkarni was Born in Dharwad, Karnataka, She is a Mumbai based multidisciplinary artist. She graduated in Painting from Sir J.J. School of Arts in 1972, following which she trained in murals, again from Sir J.J. School of Art. She then went on to study murals and graphics at the M S University, Baroda and then Santi Niketan, under famous painter Somnath Hore. Kulkarni received the Government of India Cultural Scholarship in 1975-76, and completed a residency at the Brewery Arts Centre in the UK in 1998. She has participated in several exhibitions including at the Lalit Kala Akademi, Bharat Bhavan, Birla Academy and International Women's Forum in New Delhi. She has held solo shows of her works "Ghodadi", "Reduced Spaces", "Grandmother's tales", and "Beyond Proscenium" in multiple locations in India. Shakuntla Kulkarni lives and works in Mumbai.
