About the Artist
Mumbai-based Vanita Gupta graduated in Fine Arts Painting from the L S Raheja School of Art, Mumbai. Known for her signature paintings in black, Vanita has been widely exhibiting her work nationally and internationally. She has had four solo shows with Pundole art gallery, the latest being in 2013 exhibiting her new body of sculptures. Gupta was awarded Fellowship grant 2014-15 by Asian cultural council, New York , to observe the contemporary art practice in New York. In 2014 she was awarded the Pollock Krasner foundation Grant and was at an artist residency in Vermont studio centre, USA. She was a recipient of the Raza Award, India for excellence in art in 2008. Vanita lives and works in Mumbai.
