About the Artist
Ghosal was born in 1965 in Hooghly, West Bengal. He graduated from the Govt. College of Art & Craft - Kolkata with a major in painting. Thereafter he completed d his post graduation from Benaras Hindu University, Varanasi. His Varanasi works reflect a temporal and spiritual dimension. The pastel shaded images are semblances of an isolated image of what the artist perceives beneath the bustling activities there. His current series of paintings create meditative structural spaces, melancholic in nature which enter into the inner realm of reality and extract a kind of mystic, melodic silence. He has participated in several group shows and held many solo exhibitions across the country. Tapas Ghosal has also been the recipient of several awards and accolades.
