About the Artist
Shobha Broota is one of India's most established contemporary artists, renowned for her meditative, abstract works that blend visual art with her formal training in classical Indian music. An art teacher and contemporary textile artist who is widely known for her unique exploration of texture and form in her paintings. Hailing from a family of rich artistic tradition, her husband Rameshwar Broota was recognized for his figurative practice. Broota holds a Master's degree in Fine Arts from Delhi University. Her formal education and early training in art have played a significant role in shaping her distinctive style. Shobha Broota has received several awards, including the "Alva's Varna Virasat" National Award (2018), the AIFACS Award (1982), and a Senior Fellowship from the Government of India.
