Dadrawala was born in Chinchani, Maharashtra in 1955. He received his M.A. from Bombay University in 1978 and went on to receive a scholarship from the Indian Council for Cultural Relations in 1994 to attend an exhibition in Amsterdam and a senior fellowship in Visual Art (1998-99) from the Department of Culture of the Ministry of Human Resource Development. Dadrawala is a typical product of the vital new forces that are emerging in contemporary Indian art. The artist says he gets his inspiration from diverse sources like nature, literature, photography, philosophical readings or even from an interesting scene from a film. He received a Senior fellowship in the field of Visual Art 1998-1999 from the Ministry of Human Resource Development Department of Culture Government of India. The artist has participated in several group shows as well as held solo shows in India and abroad.
