About Artist
Awchat was born in Pune in 1950. Starting out as a graphic designer, he left the world of advertising to pursue painting. He claims that colours are crucial to his work and hold everything together. The sentiments of his images are created through bright colours that hit you in the face and make you blink. He draws on the rich cultural heritage of India as is evident from his 'Warkari' and 'Parampara' series. Awchat recently created a digital image of Amitabh Bachchan as Macbeth, which featured in the MrBachchan's book, To Be or Not to Be. The artist lives and works in Mumbai.Artwork
