About ArtistRay graduated at the top of his class from the Government College of Art and Craft, Kolkota. Though initially working almost exclusively with charcoal and paper, Ray's first series on canvas led to his inaugural show at the Academy of Fine Arts, Kolkota that featured pieces influenced by Camus and Kafka. He gradually introduced colour into his work, trying his hand at various media while attempting to depict the pervading sense of alienation that he sensed in people. Ray has participated in numerous group shows in India and abroad and has held solo exhibitions in Kolkota, Mumbai and Delhi. In 2000, he was awarded the Senior Fellowship Award of the Ministry of Culture, Government of India.
