About Artist
Pooja attained her M.F.A from Chelsea College of Arts, London (2013-2015) and her B.F.A (Applied Art) from the College of Art, University of Delhi (2004). She has also trained in Painting at Escola d’Arts Plastique i Disseny, Barcelona and School of Visual Arts in New York. Her artworks have been exhibited extensively at venues which include Mehrangarh Fort, Jodhpur (2017), Lite-Haus Galerie, Berlin (2016), Penarth Studios, SU Space and Cookhouse Gallery in London (2015) and at Anchorage House, London (2014), Gallery Art Konsult, (2014) and Alliance Francaise de Delhi (2012) in New Delhi amongst others. She founded her own Clothing Label in 2012 in an attempt to bridge the disconnect between art and design with her label (Pooja Aggarwal) that specializes in print based textile products. The artist lives and works in Delhi. Pooja’s work is an attempt to bring awareness to her conditioning by amplifying atmospheres, drawing the viewer into the average females daily cycle of existence. Her ‘Gestural Drawing’ series screams of a silent tension that arises from her use of her whole body along with water to mark the paper with her gestures, an attempt to break free of her submissive thinking. ‘Framed Interactions’ depicts modern human interactions and how every gesture or conversation is framed to a point of no spontaneity or surprise.Artwork
