He's been living in The Cholamandal Artists Village since 1966 when it was formed by a group of artists from the College of Fine Arts to have a place that gave them all a sense of ownership. Joining Cholamandal Artists' Village, Chennai, as a life member in 1965, Nandan passed his Diploma in painting and advanced course with distinction from the Govt. College of Art and Crafts, Chennai, in1968. He has exhibited at scores of shows, both solo and group has all over India, and indeed the world; worked at camps and workshops: and been awarded handsomely with fellowships, grants and honors, some of them being Tamil Nadu Ovia Nunkalai Kuzhu, Chennai, 1979 and 1991, and the Lalit Kala Akademi Award, New Delhi, 1992. His work is featured in many private and public collections and large commissioned works.Artwork
