Manjit Bawa (Punjab)

About Artist

ManjitBawa was born in 1941 in Dhuri, Punjab. He studied Fine Arts under eminent artists like SomnathHore, DhanrajBhagat and B.C.Sanyalat the College of Art, New Delhi, from 1958 and 1963. Bawa worked as a silkscreen painter between 1964 and 1971 in Britain, where he also studied art. He has won many awards and honours including the Sailoz prize in New Delhi in 1963 and the 1st Bharat Bhavan biennale in 1986. Vadhera Art Gallery exhibited his works titled 'Let's Paint the Sky Red' in September 2011. ManjitBawa lived and worked out of Dalhousie, Himachal Pradesh, where his studio was, and Delhi, where his family lives. He passed away in December 2008.
