About Artist
Manisha Jha had an unconventional start to her artistic career. Having done her BA in Interior Designing and Display from New Delhi Polytechnic for Women and her MA in Architecture from Institute of Environmental Design, Gujarat, she is not formally trained in art. She learnt the processes and techniques of Madhubani art from watching her mother and grandmother paint in her hometown of Raghopur, Bihar, self studying this art form while pursuing her other degrees. Her career in Madhubani painting took full form from 1998 onwards, when she held an exhibition sponsored by the India International Centre in New Delhi. Alongside her colourful career in painting and architecture, Manisha has also founded a training and cultural preservation centre in New Delhi known as the Madhubani Art Centre.Artwork
