About Artist
Lavanya Mani, born in 1977 in Hyderabad, earned her MFA in Creative Painting from the Faculty of Fine Arts at MSU Baroda in 2001. During her studies, she began integrating various elements of textile dyeing, printing, and embroidery into her artwork. As she continued to work with fabrics, she became increasingly drawn to traditional Indian dyeing and printing techniques, particularly kalamkari, likely due to their similarities to painting. This formed the basis for her oeuvre, which has been exhibited at various galleries across India, such as Gallery Chemould where she has held a solo exhibition as well as participated in many group shows.Artwork
