About Artist
Jehangir Jani, born in 1955 in Mumbai, is a self-taught artist known for his diverse body of work, including sculpture, installations, watercolours, and films. Over the years, Jani has exhibited in 17 solo shows and participated in numerous group exhibitions globally. His short films, like Make Ups and Urmi (awarded Best Indian Narrative Short in 2013), have been featured at international film festivals across Canada, UK and Korea. He was awarded the Max Planck–Tiss fellowship in 2012 and has lectured at prestigious institutions such as Ecole des Beaux Arts, Paris. Jani uses ceramics, fibreglass and sheet metal for his sculptures, and oils, conte and water colours for paintings. His art explores culture, and the socio-political impacts of propagating the said culture.Artwork
