About Artist
Gieve is a man of many talents: a practising general physician, painter, poet and playwright. Human situations and circumstances have deeply influenced Patel’s works. Rather than sensationalizing human conditions, his works give a meaningful frame to human death. Patel’s works are a raw interpretation of human sexuality and violence. He held his first exhibition in India in the year 1966, post which he has participated and held numerous exhibitions in India and abroad. Some of his landmark participations include the Menton Biennale, France, 1976 and the Herwitz collection, Worcester Art Museum, Massachusetts and “Coups de Coeur†Geneva, 1987. His most recent show ‘Footboard rider’ in 2017 contained 12 works, both old and new, that showcased his journey through his preoccupations over the decades.
