About Artist
Debasree born in Guwahati, Sikkim, completed her B.F.A from the Government College of Arts and Crafts, Guwahati, in 2005, followed by a post-diploma from the Faculty of Fine Arts, M.S.U, Baroda, in 2007. As an artist her work involves acrylic, applique, and hand embroidery on silk and canvas. These capture the fleeting and ephemeral nature of her memories. Das's work is visually stunning, with naturalistic studies of flora adding to its richness. Her ability to weave multiple layers of memories into a cohesive and captivating narrative is a testament to her skill as an artist. Her exhibitions include the 8th Bharat Bhavan International Biennial of Print-Art 2008 India at Bharat Bhavan in Bhopal in 2008, "Abreast Totems" at Mon Art Gallerie, Kolkata 2010, and the most recent Group Show at Sanchit Art, New Delhi in 2021, Alumnus Exhibition at Space Studio, Baroda (2023) and the “Art Tint” group exhibition in Baroda (2024). While Debasree Das primarily exhibits in India, she has also showcased her work in Slovakia. Notably, she participated in the exhibition 'Is the Future Boring?' at Galeria HIT in Bratislava in 2013, alongside Petra Feriancova and Dorota Kenderová. Her work has been recognized with numerous awards and fellowships, such as the Junior Fellowship from the Ministry of Culture, Government of India (2017-2018), the Camlin Europe Art Tour Award (2010), and the Asia Pacific Artists Fellowship at the National Art Studio, Changdong, South Korea (2013).Artwork
