About Artist
Anisha Debbarman graduated with an Integrated Masters degree from IIT Madras in Development Studies in 2015. She is currently pursuing her Ph.D in habitat studies from the Tata Institute of Social Sciences. She has been selected amongst 50 delegates for the Forum of Contemporary Studies in Baroda. She has also been awarded the Air India Association merit scholarship in the years (2000 – 2008). She has participated as a hospitality volunteer at Saarang, a student organized cultural festival in 2010 and has been a cast member in a hostel production for IIT Madras 2010 and 2014. She works mainly with charcoal and watercolour pencils to produce silhouettes of animals and figures. Anisha’s work titled “Forest Witch” is inspired by the idea of growth. It depicts a form of evolution, a kind of metamorphosis that takes place even after death.Artwork
