Akhil Das, born in 1968, is a renowned sculptor from Calcutta. He completed his MFA in creative sculpture from M.S. University, Baroda. Das's first solo exhibition was held at Jehangir Art Gallery in 2002, and he has since participated in several group shows, including the Harmony Show and National Exhibition. His works are part of private collections in various cities across India and internationally, including the USA, Japan, and Australia. He uses bronze and wood to craft intricate sculptures that explore themes of displacement and identity with a sense of the absurd.
