About Artist
A. M. Raju, a master of traditional metal sculpting, has an ITI in molding from ITI Kalamasheri and a Diploma in Drawing and Painting from KGTE in Kerala. Raju dedicated more than 25 years to creating stunning metal sculptures in bronze, brass, panchaloha, thriloha, gold, and silver. His works, which often replicated South Indian, contemporary, and natural styles, were celebrated for their attention to intricate detail and adherence to centuries-old traditions. Raju's expertise in metal sculpting was deeply rooted in the rich history of Indian art, particularly the South Indian tradition that flourished during the Chola period. This region became known for its large, intricate bronze sculptures with high copper content, and Raju's works reflected that historical mastery. His sculptures were highly durable, and the brilliant luster and reflectivity of his metal surfaces made his pieces visually striking, imbuing them with a sense of grandeur. In addition to operating his studio, Raju worked for 10 years with Natesan Antiqarts, further honing his skills in metal artifacts. He participated in numerous prominent exhibitions, including Paramparik Karigar, Art Expo, The 100 Hands, and DCH. The artist passed away in May 2021.Artwork
